The Medium, The Mystic, and the Physicist - Lawrence LeShan 2003

Amazon Synopsis: First published in 1974, this groundbreaking volume relates field theory of altered states of consciousness and compares the surprisingly similar views of mediums, mystics, and physicists.

When renowned psychologist Lawrence LeShan first explored clairvoyance and precognition it shook his belief in everyday reality. As a result, it led him to postulate other states of consciousness, which he calls “Clairvoyant Reality” and “Transpsychic Reality.” Although LeShan was trained in the traditional scientific method, he discovered that these altered realities—including the knowledge of future events, the ability to heal from great distances, and other paranormal phenomena—operated according to their own laws.

Filled with mesmerizing case examples, quotations, and observations from LeShan’s own personal experience, The Medium, the Mystic, and the Physicist includes LeShan’s essay, “Human Survival on Biological Death,” where he brings a fresh perspective to the theory of the afterlife. A classic guide for the study of parapsychology, readers will be intrigued by this collection of unique ideas.

  • A classic in the field, often thought of as the author’s best work
  • Author is renowned as a psychologist and a leader in the modern study of mind-body interaction

Spirit Communication: The Soul’s Path – Kevin Ryerson and Stephanie Harolde 1989

Publisher's Weekly: Ryerson, a California medium, or trance channeler, claims to be the outlet through which the following spirit-entities speak: John, an apostle of Jesus; Aton-Re, adviser to Egyptian pharaoh Akhnaton; a Haitian herbalist named Obadiah; Tom MacPherson, an Irish pickpocket from Shakespearean England; oriental teacher Japu; et al. Their voices, as recorded in this hodgepodge, sound remarkably alike as they expound on love, the soul, soul mates, the law of karma, achieving an androgynous personality, past lives and so forth. With an assist from freelancer Harolde, Ryerson, who figures prominently in Shirley MacLaine's books, describes the mechanics of mediumship and outlines a theory of mind that accentuates the superconscious. His informally presented philosophy is a smorgasbord that draws freely from such sources as Buddhism, Edgar Cayce, Jung, the legend of Atlantis and Judeo-Christian tradition.

Supernormal: Science, Yoga, and the Evidence for Extraordinary Psychic Abilities - Dean Radin 2013

Amazon Synopsis: Can yoga and meditation unleash our inherent supernormal mental powers, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition? Is it really possible to perceive another person's thoughts and intentions? Influence objects with our minds? Envision future events? And is it possible that some of the superpowers described in ancient legends, science fiction, and comic books are actually real, and patiently waiting for us behind the scenes? Are we now poised for an evolutionary trigger to pull the switch and release our full potentials?

Dean Radin, Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and bestselling author of The Conscious Universe, presents persuasive new experimental evidence for the existence of such phenomena. He takes us on a thrilling scientific journey and challenges outdated assumptions that these abilities are mere superstition. Focusing on Patanjali's mysterious Yoga Sutras -- 2,000 year-old meditation practices believed to release our extraordinary powers -- Radin offers powerful evidence confirming that sometimes fact is much stranger, spookier, and more wonderful than the wildest fiction.

Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle - Alice A. Bailey 2008

Amazon Synopsis: Occultism is concerned with the scientific facts behind the spiritual idealisms many accept because of a natural human tendency to idealise. One of the most highly idealised concepts is that of the brotherhood of man. Occultism shows that the scientific basis for that ideal rests on the fact of the one etheric structure underlying all forms within the solar system, energised and held in being by one life force. Mankind is, therefore, one in life and in form; he is merely unaware of unity in his own consciousness.

And evolution is essentially the means by which he becomes progressively conscious of the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. In this whole process the faculties of man play an important part - the five objective senses with their five higher spiritual counterparts. The mental principle or faculty is of tremendous importance to humanity at this stage in his evolutionary unfoldment. The three-fold mind unifies as one faculty the higher or abstract mind, the soul - the son of mind, and the lower concrete mind. As this condition of mental fusion and control develops, the disciple is learning to use the mind in new ways, particularly in wielding energy which, as it vitalises and animates his etheric body, influences through radiation his effect on others.

It is through this conscious, controlled use of mental energy that telepathic communication can be scientifically established with other minds by means of the etheric structure common to all. And by the same means the mind of the disciple, or of a group of disciples developing group consciousness, can be impressed by the clarity of thought and purpose of those members of the spiritual Hierarchy concerned with the working out of the Plan for humanity. The spiritual Hierarchy, we are told, works only through the minds of disciples, using the science of impression, and only for the purposes of the Plan.

The impression is conveyed as a stream of ideas - those ideas inherent in the Plan for man - which the disciple or the group can then interpret and translate into self-chosen action. The form of telepathy now developing within the spiritually awakened aspirants of the world is not, therefore, that of the solar plexus centre which is of the animal nature, but the result of a mental polarisation and penetration in consciousness towards the soul and the Triad. This produces an open channel of communication in two directions - vertically towards the spiritual Hierarchy of the planet, seeking to impress the Plan on all receptive minds, and horizontally towards the minds of men united within the mental substance of human consciousness as one.   Free PDF
