As the leaves on the tree have a place and a connection in the life of the branch, so does our physical life contribute to the spiritual growth which will add to the rings on our soul’s tree of life. Spring comes and the buds blossom on the branches. They open into leaves and collect the rain, sunlight and carbon dioxide to nourish the tree. It prospers as the summer continues and grows in its very depths far from view.
Fall comes and the leaves, having accomplished their task change colour and fall off, heralding a new stage in growth for the tree. Each new lifetime adds to the growth of the soul and the times between lifetimes are like the winter of a tree where things occur, covered by a blanket of snow and bark, that can’t be understood by the leaves of spring and summer.
So are our lifetimes upon the earth and away from it, the lifetimes of the soul.
